We are developing a number of sites to help people with alcohol and other problems. One of these sites is aimed at helping the partners' of drinkers. We recognise that you are a neglected group who are largely ignored by the treatment industry and want to provide you with help and support. However in order to do this we need your help. Rather than assume we know what you want or need, we want you to tell us. That way we can be more confident that we are providing the correct information and support. WE also want to hear from you if you have experienced living with a heavy drinker and have some advice you would like to share with others.
So please complete the form below. There is no need to identify yourself or leave an email address. Just fill in the form and submit it. Thanks for your cooperation and help.
Thank you for your contributions!
Thanks for your contributions so far. We are delighted to hear from you and hope you continue to send us your questions and suggestions. Below are some of your contributions so far.
"Does she/he really have a drinking problem?" This is an excellent question and one that seems to be important to many of you. So we have tried to provide a
discussion about this issue.
"Why does she/he drink like that?" Another good question. For some of you it is important to understand the causes of the behaviour.
"Is the damage to our relationship permanent, or can it be rebuilt?"
And some of the support you are asking for.
"Someone to talk to that has been there" and "Guidance about what to say and do".
Although we are building a site specifically to address these and other questions that you have contributed, over the next few weeks we will try and provide some answers and guidance on this site. So please come back. In the meantime keep providing us with your questions and advice. Thanks again.
Please note that no facilities for partners' of drinkers currently exist at this site. The survey is part of the research for future developments. However as part of the development we will provide a monthly bulletin of the questions on this site. So please call back and watch the progress of the project. There are also
some useful articles
on living with someone with an alcohol problem and other topics.
Please also take the time out to sign up for our new e-zine The Guide. This monthly e-zine will contain up to the minute news of research and other developments within the alcohol and drug fields.
